Financial Services

Paying for school can be a challenge. You'll have help to navigate your way through all the paperwork. Start by speaking with a Financial Services Advisor, who will walk you through each step of the process, and answer any questions you may have.

Choose from several different payment options. You may use any of the following options to fund your online degree program:

Cash Plan
For students who select the cash plan as a primary payment option, 100 percent of tuition and any applicable fees are to be paid on or before each course start date. You may have your tuition and fees automatically charged to your credit card (debit cards are not accepted). Automatic credit card payments are charged on the start date of each course; otherwise, full payment must be received on or before the start date of each course. Your credit card information will be requested in order to establish credit for this plan.

Tuition Reimbursement
You may select this option if your employer reimburses at least 50 percent of your annual tuition. Tuition is deferred a maximum of 90 days after each course/term start date, regardless of when you receive payment from your employer. Applicable fees are due on or before the start date of each course. To qualify, you must submit a signed Tuition Reimbursement Certification and Authorization Form and include a valid credit card number (debit cards are not accepted) with authorization to charge the card.

Direct Bill Plan (Third Party Billing)
You may have your tuition and fees billed directly to your employer (Third Party Agency) if they have a Direct Bill Memorandum of Understanding on file with Ashford University. The Third-Party Agency must offer a tuition benefit of at least $2,500 annually for you to be eligible for this option. This option requires you to fill out a Direct Bill Certification and Authorization form, which your Admissions Counselor can provide for you.

Military Tuition Assistance
If you are active duty, a drilling reservist, or a member of the National Guard, you may be eligible to receive Tuition Assistance (TA). Any tuition and applicable fees not covered by the TA program must be paid prior to the start date of each course. To determine your eligibility for TA, please contact your Education Service Officer (ESO) for details. If you are a reservist or National Guard personnel, you should also seek any tuition assistance or reimbursement that your respective employers may offer.

Veterans Benefits
If you can provide a copy of your DD-214, 22-1990, or 22-1995 you may be eligible for education benefits under the GI Bill®. You will be responsible for self-certifying at the end of every month to prove your attendance at Ashford University. Once your benefit status has been determined, talk to a Military Admissions Counselor to learn how to apply your benefits toward your Bachelor’s degree at Ashford.

GI Bill® is a registered trademark of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). More information about education benefits offered by VA is available at the official U.S. government Web site at

Financial Aid
Financial aid may take the form of federal and state grants and loans. Fill out and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine your eligibility. There is no charge, and you do not have to be admitted to apply; however, you must be enrolled before your funds will be applied toward tuition and fees. You should apply as early as possible, even if you don’t plan to start until late in the year. Ashford University’s school code is 001881. You will need this code in order for Ashford University to receive the information you submit.
